Vodka Infused Stuff ( garlic, ginger, habaneros)
This is one of my staple kitchen tricks - mostly because I'm lazy but also because it tastes good.
(Left to right: ginger, habanero peppers, garlic)
Basically, the idea is: whenever you have some garlic lying around, peel the whole lot of it and preserve the left-over pieces in a bottle with some vodka. Keep topping the vodka up and it'll last for a very long time and you'll wind up with wonderful whatever-flavored vodka and alcohol-"cooked" flavorings.
Things you can do with it:
- Chop up vodka infused garlic and toss it over stuff like toast (It smushes well and releases a heavenly smell if you toast it!)
- Pour a tablespoon of the garlic infused vodka (leave the garlic out) over pasta with butter, add cheese or shreds of scottish-style smoked salmon
- Toss vodka infused habaneros into your chili. Be careful of the habanero infused vodka; it can be used as a convenient poison for errant mothers-in-law or other pests.
